I’m pretty excited to think that, pretty soon, I’m going to have a fully functional website up and running. Yep, shopping cart and all. At the moment, I’m not interested, and nor do I have the stock, for a shop front, but I do really want a forum to develop the brand, and not necessarily through someone else’s store (the offers I’ve had include a 50% mark up at their end, meaning that the end price is more than I want to sell my things for).
The decision to set up a website, with shop, has meant that I’ve had to put a lot of thought into what I’m going to stock. Because I’m aiming to have the site fully functional by the end of March, or a bit later, I’m going to focus on a winter range for kids insofar as clothing goes. As for the rest, there will be bags (some great new fabrics for the scandi bag, still no name as yet…), aprons, cushions (again, more fabrics I love) and more.
The kids range will be similar to the designs that started all of this, with tops, pants, skirts and dresses, but the fabric will not be linen (on account of it being winter), and the colours are probably a bit bolder and more experimental than before, to make them a little more individual and less kiddish. But I’ve also decided to add a section called Party Time, which will be one off outfits for parties. By one off, I mean there will only be one in each size, for obvious reasons (think Oscars and mother of the bride/groom disasters…it’s no different just because you’re 3). It’ll come as no surprise that this section was created from my love of stories, and all things matching, and to allow me to experiment with fabrics that mightn’t work mainstream.
The first Party Time section, which will feature when the web launches, was inspired by my daughter asking for an “Ellie” (elephant) party for her 3rd birthday, which lead to the little pink number you see down the side, worn by a jumping 3 year old. Loving that outfit as i do, I thought I’d expand that range for the launch, but in every colour variety available. A snapshot of that is what you see above, and what you’d see below if I could work the new imac at all! I LOVE this fabric, it’s a nice heavyweight and strong as an ox (I can’t tell you what has landed on Harri’s skirt and its still A OK), and sits beautifully. I”m told the skirt is good, because it’s full enough for “spinning,” and that’s really the test of any skirt….
