Wedding dress

No, not mine. Harriet's.

I bought this gorgeous broderie anglaise fabric from POCP a few weeks ago, with a few to making flowing girls' summer skirts.

Unfortunately the embroidered detail is only on one side, so I'd need oodles of metres to make skirts in sizes 1-4 for the shop, and missed out on buying this wholesale a while back, being more taken with the Nani Iro double gauze of this kind…

Anyway, I never lost my love for the broderie, so was happy to see it the other day and grab some to make a little summer outfit for Harri. I tweaked my usual summer skirt pattern to make a little drop waist with a fuller, gathered skirt and thought it looked summery and sweet.

Harri liked it, but wondered where the top was given it was, after all, her wedding dress for when she marries Oliver. (She thinks she'll probably wear a rose in her hair).  So with the bit I had left, I went to work on a matching summer top, and voila.

The shots don't work because it was late in the day with the light disappearing fast, but you get the idea. Our family loves Oliver (Harri's school friend) and we like to think we're progressive*, but we suggested she wait a few more years until making such a big decision.  She agreed it was wise to wait until she's left school.

*The 12 year old marrying the 112 year old in Somalia, or Sumatra, or wherever the hell it was**, however, too much.

** Told you I had appalling Geography, all I remember is that the country started with "S".
